about rtai

In connection with a student project im working on (well preparing for
the exam) I would like to hear peoples opinion about RTAI (pros/cons)
compared to other realtime systems in the same class. 

Also I haven't been able to find an answer to what the "roadmap" for
RTAI is. 
Is HAL dropped and adeos used? 
Is 3.0 the first "stable/clean" release of RTAI (earlier versions sure
seems quite messy and buggy)?
How well is the port for CRIS comming along? 

What is "next step" (version 4 things)?

Is RTAI used in commercially sold products somewhere? 

Hope someone can help me answer these questions so my presentation of
RTAI will be a bit more informational.
