Version Compatibility?

I developed an application around the end of 2001 using RTAI 24.1.6a and Linux kernel 2.4.8.  I would now like to consider upgrading to a more recent version of Linux. Could anyone tell me what is the latest stable version of RTAI and what is the latest Linux kernel version that it is compatible with?

Also, can anyone suggest a debugger to use within KDevelop, which might be better than the one provided with KDevelop for debugging an RTAI application?
