Ethernet connection

Hi everyone

I'm currently writing  a module that controls a piece of scientific 
equipment. We sync off a 50ms tick arriving at the ACK of the parallel 
port. What I need to do is every tick send off a message via ethernet to 
another computer to obtain a data stamp - probably only a long int. 

The control computer is running rtai but the remote computer is not. Any 
ideas of the best way to impliment this both on the rtai side and the 
remote computer?
