Well you did not say that "set version information on all module
symbols" was set. With RTAI that must never be set.

In any case the missing symbol had to do with the use of non TSC 
machines and the symbol was missing in such a case, even with the module 
version unset. So the newest patch is needed for such architectures anyhow.
