[Rtai] RTAI/Simulink and user space application communication

Hello,

I realize these are rookie questions but I am new to RTAI so thanks  
for both the help and patience...

I have installed Ubuntu 8.04 and RTAI 3.7 without issue, completed the  
Matlab integration steps, built and ran the test model and everything  
is good. Now I would like to build a user space application that  
listens for network messages, parses the messages, and passes the  
information via a mailbox to a Simulink S-function executing in hard- 
real time. I am assuming this type of interaction is possible - are  
there examples that would help me along the way? Where in general  
would I find a collection of examples that illustrate the various RTAI  
functionality?

Along the same thought, if someone could point me to examples of  
extending kernel modules using LXRT I would be eternally grateful!
